Closing the Registers

Register 1 should be the LAST session closed. You can see which registers have an open session from the Point of Sale Dashboard screen.  If a register says "Continue Selling," it means it has an open session.  Cutting Counters 1 and 2, along with the Receiving Station (storeroom computer) and Shipping Station (Sandra's office), should be closed first.  Then Register 2 should be closed, and if any cash was taken in on Register 2, that cash should be removed from the Register 1 drawer BEFORE Register 1 is closed.

If the session shows a Cashier or someone other than the Administrator, you must click the icon to change it.

Select Administrator.

Click on Close to close the session.

On the Closing Session screen, click on the calculator to count the cash drawer.

Count the full cash drawer before taking the day's cash transactions out and hit Confirm.  Currently, the system does not have a spot for rolls of coins so remember to add the rolls to your counts.  There are 50 coins per roll of pennies and dimes.  There are 40 coins per roll of nickles and quarters.

After you count the drawer, the Difference column will show if it is over or under. Unfortunately, I have reported a bug: once you use the calculator to count, it does not update the Amount to Remove, so you need to edit the counted amount. Just retype the amount in the counted field; you can edit it and replace a single digit.

Once the Amount to Remove has updated, remove that amount of cash/coins from the drawer and put it in the dated envelope for the drop with any checks, gift cards, etc.  Then, hit Close Session.

The registers are now closed; you can put the cash box in the safe and drop your envelope.

The following screenshot shows an example of the cash drawer being short $2.  Notice the amount to drop is $2 less than the actual cash transactions.  When you hit Close Session, you will get a box asking about the payment difference and to post a profit/loss journal entry.  Just click OK.
