Navigating in the PoS

Our new system (StrideRetail) comprises multiple modules that are all connected.  When you create a contact in the Contacts module, that person or company will be available in the Inventory module, Point of Sale (POS or Register) module, Sales module, etc.  Vice versa, if you create a customer (a contact) in the POS, it will be in the Contacts module.

The image below is the main module screen. If you ever need to return to it, just click on the little boxes in the upper left corner of the screen. From there, you can access any of the other modules.  A little tip: If you hold the CTRL key down while you click on the module, it will open in a new tab in the browser.  This will allow you to open multiple modules simultaneously if you need to jump between them quickly.

Once you are in a module, you will see that module's main menu at the top of the screen.  Some menu items have submenus, as shown in the image above.

In the document-specific instructions, if it says something like "Go into the Inventory module and then select Products Products," from the main screen above, you would click on the Inventory module and then from the Inventory module main menu click Products, then the submenu item Products.

Many menu items in the system will bring you to a Kanban board for that section as seen in the image below.  I won't go into what Kanban is at this point but if you are interested, here is a link to a good article.   Kanban Board Explained in 6 Minutes | Kanban Tool

To switch to a list view, just click on the List view icon in the upper right of the screen, and then you will get a List view like the image below.  There are other views, but you will use Kanban and List most frequently.

Note the box highlighted in the image above; this is the area in which you can search, filter and group what you are looking for.  You can also save a search as a Favorite or pull up one that is already stored as a Favorite.

Notice in this image, the search is currently showing Products.  If you needed to see a Service, you would need hit the little X next to Products to remove that limit from the search.

When you click on Filters, you will see the system defaults for common searches. If you were looking for a list of Services and not Products, you would select Products to uncheck it and then select Services to check it. You can select multiple items on this list, and if you feel really adventurous, you could add a custom filter. There will be another document about customer filters later.

That is the basics of navigating through our new system.
